Must try street Foods in Mumbai for a toothsome Monsoon experience
When it
suddenly starts raining outside, what is that one thing that comes to your
mind? Honestly, for most of us it is the food. The slideshow of our favourite
food items usually runs at a slow pace in our minds. And we end up taking our
car keys and driving down to one of those nearby food joints. When it comes to
street food, Aamchi Mumbai tops the charts. Let’s take a look at some of those
mouthwatering food items you must try out when it rains.
Batata Vada/Vada Pav
If you
have lived in Mumbai or have visited the city, you must have tried Vada Pav. It
is difficult not to fall in love with this cheap and mouthwatering street food.
It’s available at almost every nook and corner of the city. Try it out with hot
chai, we bet you won’t stop at just one
Bhel Puri
The
popular chowpatty snack is not just mouthwatering but is healthy as well. The
ingredients including puffed rice, onions, sev, onions, raw mango, potatoes,
papadi along with sour and sweet chutney make it a must try snack. While you
are taking a stroll at the Juhu beach, enjoy this sumptuous street food.
Kheema Pav
Kheema
Pav is the non-vegetarian version of Vada Pav which is quite a popular street
food in Mumbai. Served with pav as well as either scrambled eggs or crispy
sunny side up egg, it is one of the best breakfast options. However, there’s no
harm in eating this mouthwatering food item at any hour.
Cheese Pav Bhaji
Mumbai,
like most other cities in India, sells Pav Bhaji but what differentiates it
from the others is the addition of cheese. When you try out this cheese
variant, you will notice the pleasant difference. Monsoon and hot cheese bhaji
will surely bring a smile to your face.
Misal Pav
Misal
Pav is a healthier version (well, we’d like to call it that) of Vada Pav. For
people who tend to love sprouts, Misal Pav may be your best bet. The
ingredients include Batata, poha, sprouted lentils, chopped tomatoes and
onions, farsan, chivda and lots of spice. This fiery hot dish is served with
pav. If you wish to minus the spice, you can add some yoghurt to it.
Bheja Fry
Bheja
fry, the spicy non vegetarian dish is eaten with roti or pav. Made by sautéing
gaot’s brain with onions, tomatoes, green chillies and spices, you can’t just
enjoy one plate of it. Make sure you keep a glass of water while you are trying
out this hot street food.
Ragda Pattice
The
amazing combination of pattice (potatoes) and ragda (chickpeas), is Mumbai’s
own version of the famous chaat. Green chutney, tamarind sauce and chopped
onions add to the flavor of this delightful street food. Enjoy the true Mumbai
flavor when it is raining outside, it gives fierce competition to the popular
Dilli ki Chaat.
Bombil Fry
The
bombil fish, popularly known as the Bombay duck is mainly found in Mumbai waters.
These fishes are flattened and then dipped in a batter of spiced besan. You can
either eat it as a starter or eat it with chapatti, the soft fish with a crispy
outer covering will not disappoint you. So, the next time it rains in Mumbai,
make sure you try out these amazing street foods.
